Context
Coinbase announced Coinbase NFT in 2021 as a Web3 social marketplace, with profiles, following and discovery as well as buying and selling. It was built in the open, with input from the NFT community, and the beta went live on Apr 20, 2022, a few weeks after I became a Senior Software Engineer at West Monroe.
The beta put four things in front of people: a profile to curate and connect, a community to build around it, a way to discover NFTs, and a way to buy and sell them. My work was in that last one.
What I did
Consulting through West Monroe, I contributed to the beta, including:
- the purchase flow, the path a buyer takes from a listing, through a wallet signature, to a completed purchase
- the contract and royalty management screens, where creators manage their collection contracts and the royalties they earn on resales
That meant React and TypeScript on a Node.js stack, with web3 wallet integration.
Result
Coinbase announced the beta on its blog the day it launched.
My part
Coinbase NFT was a large product built by many teams. I contributed to parts of it as a West Monroe consultant, and I didn't build the marketplace.
